STAMP3D forest
|
Project was developed in cooperation with traditional pottery manufacturer "Manufaktura Bolesławiec". We observed the way people work there and became mesmerized by their skill and craft. We believe the robotic fabrication and craftsmanship can go hand in hand and complement each other.
We decided then to create a pattern and the whole way of cooperation between people and robots, where robot is programmed to execute repetitions - more robotic, while person can later embellish and use their creativity. We wanted to design situation where workers are free from constant repetition, but can became creative workforce, making every object even more special and unique. We wanted also to experiment with the tool itself, and in contrast to the way it is used by workers today, think about it as a 3D object, so one tool can leave multiple shapes and marks, against the way the stamp is used now, just as a 2D object and every mark is made with different tool. Presented pattern "LAS" means- forest in polish, is made with one shape of foam and differently applied pressure and angles, the execution of that idea is only possible with a robot, yet final effect feels very human. On each plate there is also place left for interpretation, it could for example change with seasons, we chose to use reindeer stamp currently as well at use at "Manufaktura Bolesławiec Team: Magda Mojsiejuk, Kamila Kantek, Barbara Drozdek, Mateusz Kotowski |
